This public lake was built by the State
Conservation Department in cooperation with the County
and citizens provided funds and built a $250,000, 180
– acre lake, 4.5 miles southeast of LaFayette and
stocked it with Brim, Bass, Crappie, Catfish, and

Chattahoochee River
Kayaking,
Canoeing, and Historic Dive Sites. The river
tells a story of the history of this area. The
old bridge foundation pedestals and numerous old boats
can be seen below the water. Diving excavations
are ongoing.
West Point Lake

SECOND LARGEST MAN-MADE LAKE in the U.S.
The lake provides excellent fishing, boating,
hunting, camping, swimming, and many other
recreational opportunities. For more information, stop by the Visitor Center, located at
the Resource Management Office.

management of the lake and its lands.
