Ambassador Committee
These volunteers serve as Chamber representatives, meeting and greeting attendees at Chamber events and working in various capacities at our events. Our Ambassadors represent companies or organizations that are members of the Greater Valley Area Chamber or our cities – LaFayette, Lanett, Valley and West Point.
For these businesses or organizations, it's like free advertising to have the company name "out there" more often via an employee serving as an Ambassador. Applications to become an Ambassador are sent to Chamber members each September so that our Ambassadors Committee will be ready at the Oct. 1 beginning of the Chamber’s fiscal year.
If you are interested in this committee, please contact the Chamber at (334) 642-1411.
Business Resources Committee
The Chamber’s Business Resources Committee seeks to provide resources such as seminars and training courses, as well as information, which will enable the business community to work smarter and explore new ways of doing or growing individual businesses. This committee also develops networking opportunities and seeks feedback from area business.

Education Committee
The Education Committee is charged with helping area school systems in whatever ways we can to help students stay in school and become accustomed to degree of self-discipline and behavior that will help them to be more immediately employable upon graduation or for entry into college. This committee is also concerned with helping these students achieve skill sets and state certification that will enhance their employability.

Governmental Affairs Committee
The Governmental Affairs Committee is responsible for working with representatives of each city’s local government so that the Greater Valley Area Chamber can be better informed about and assist with issues and opportunities that may result in better quality of life. This committee is also responsible for forums that allow area voters to make informed choices during election years.

Junior Ambassador
The Chamber's Junior Ambassadors are students in grades 9 - 12 at area schools. Applications to become a Junior Ambassador are distributed to the schools each September and draw a good response from students eager to serve.
Under guidance of chamber Ambassadors, the junior representatives make their own significant contributions while learning the personal benefits of volunteerism. They visit area nursing and assisted-living facilities each Christmas, assist with the Chamber's Shop-at-Home Free Gift Wrap in December, work on and ride on the Chamber float in the Christmas parade, and field a fund-raising team for Relay for Life. They also assist with Chamber events such as the Great Chattahoochee duck Race and the Kids Fishing Rodeo. For many, serving as a Junior Ambassador is the first step in lifelong volunteerism.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee works on development of benefits that make membership in the Greater Valley Area Chamber worthwhile and seeks feedback from membership via surveys and meetings. This includes the planning and hosting of the annual membership dinner meeting and Chamber update in September each year. This committee also works to gain new members for the Chamber.

Tourism Committee
True tourism events draw people from other areas for overnight stays in our hotels and visits to our restaurants and retail stores … hence the humorous term “heads in the beds.” The Chamber’s Tourism Committee focuses on turning scheduled events into tourism events by expanding the activities surrounding the event while also searching for event ideas that could become a profitable, well-attended event.
